Team Development

Helping health and care teams thrive — together.

When health and care teams function effectively, the impact is clear — better service quality, more innovation, improved financial performance and fewer errors.

But in today’s increasingly complex and high-pressure environment, achieving these results requires more than good intentions — it takes a focused commitment to team-based working.

That’s where Affina comes in

Our team development support is grounded in evidence, shaped by extensive NHS and broader health and care experience and delivered with a personal, practical touch.

Whether you’re building trust, fostering a culture of innovation or breaking down barriers across systems, we provide tools and approaches that make a real difference — not just in theory, but in everyday practice.

Discover the Affina Team Journey

The Affina Team Journey is a structured, evidence-based tool designed to help NHS and wider health and care teams strengthen how they work together.

It helps create the right conditions for psychological safety, clarity and collaboration, and improves outcomes for staff and the people they support.

The team journey unfolds over ten flexible stages, each with carefully designed activities that fit naturally into regular team meetings. Teams explore key areas like purpose, roles, objectives and cross-team collaboration — at their own pace and in the order that feels most relevant. Built for real teams in real healthcare settings, the approach is intuitive, adaptable and focused on what matters most to you.

While many of our solutions include elements of team development — including Team Coaching where we work in depth with individual teams — the Affina Team Journey is our flagship tool. It supports all teams at all levels, from single services to whole systems.
